Sometimes, friends have to leave. Even though Daisy had new friends, maybe she missed her old ones?
Sometimes, God gives us new friends, and sometimes He brings back old ones. For Daisy, God brought Luna.
Luna looks like the clouds…the snow…the moon!
When Luna was born, she was a wild pony in Louisiana. That sounds fun, but it’s very scary with no one taking care of you.
One day, Luna was rounded up and rescued. She went to a home with Daisy until that home couldn’t keep them anymore.
So they got to come to Breezy Acres. They like to play together, eat together, and sleep near each other.
When Luna came to Breezy Acres, she helped Auna give lessons to little kids.
God made Luna little, and strong, and a good friend for Daisy.

Daisy’s First Day

First days are always exciting, aren’t they? And a little scary too! Daisy’s first day at Breezy Acres was a busy one.
First: her feet.
Daisy had some ouchies on her hooves making it hard to walk right. She didn’t want to run and play because her feet hurt.
So Pastor Darrick carefully cleaned them up and trimmed them.
You know those things you have to do to stay healthy, like getting a shot? Maybe you don’t want to. Maybe it doesn’t feel good. But it makes you better!
Daisy had to practice walking around with a halter. She didn’t like that either.
Do you like to learn new things?
Then Auna gave her a bath.
She really didn’t like that! Donkeys are desert animals. They like to stay dry.
Daisy is a Jerusalem donkey. She has a cross on her back. People like to think that when a donkey carried Jesus into Jerusalem, God marked them with a cross.
Our Daisy probably won’t be carrying anybody, but she does have a job to do. Donkeys are really good shepherds–kind of like baby sitters. They are smart! They keep an eye on everything and know when something is bad, like a coyote. They are brave and strong too. They will chase away bad characters.
Our horses Pedro and Seven were not used to being out in the country by themselves. So Daisy can teach them to not be afraid of the birds, to check for snakes, and to not get hurt. Can you find little Daisy in the picture?
We help her and she helps us! Isn’t that cool how God gives us each other to help out?

Daisy and the new home

Something new was coming to Breezy Acres Farm! Can you guess what it was?
It’s Daisy! The donkey! Daisy’s old home couldn’t keep her anymore,
So she had to leave everything she knew and come to a new home.
She had to meet new people friends.
And new animal friends!
Pedro really liked her.
She had to get used to new people taking care of her, like Auna and Pastor Darrick.
It was a long, tiring day. When it was bedtime, and Daisy was alone, do you think she was a little scared and lonely?
I do. But then, she could smell the Gardenias, just like home.
The crickets sang, and the moon came out, just like home.
And I’m sure she knew God was with her. Just like home.

The end!
